On January 15, 2023, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Hamburg, N.J., now celebrating its 60th year of ministry also celebrated the installation of a new pastor, the Rev. John Babbitts.
He is a native of New Jersey, having grown up in Old Bridge and Sparta. He received a B.A. in theology from Concordia College, Seward, NE, spent two years studying at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, a Graduate Certificate in Jewish-Christian relations from Seton Hall University, a Master of Christian Outreach from Concordia University, St. Paul, MN., and is currently working on a Ph.D. in Missiology (Study of Christian Missions) through intensive study courses at Concordia Theological Seminary, Ft. Wayne. He has served congregations in Illinois, Wisconsin, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Pastor John and his wife Tanya have been married for 30 years and have four children.
He enjoys traveling in the United States and exploring our national parks. Hobbies include hiking, canoeing, river rafting, and American History.
