Our congregation was founded in 1963 and is affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. We are committed to The Good News, that Jesus Christ is Lord, the Son of God; and we would like you to be sure of that too.
Our Sunday worship stresses the Gospel in two ways. First we hear God speak to us by means of his Word, from Scripture and through the sermon. And, God further assures us of his love by giving us his himself in the more concrete forms of bread and wine; some call this Eucharist, others Holy Communion. Communion is shared at our 9:30 am Sunday service.

Ages
Those who attend our services range in age from new born to 98 years.
Attire
Most of our regular attendees dress in a casual or business casual. More formal dress is also appropriate.
Time commitment
The service usually takes between 45 minutes and an hour.
Service
Our divine service is printed in The Lutheran Service Book. It is a traditional and biblically based service. If you are unfamiliar with our service please let us know and one of our members will be happy to help you.
Baptism
Baptism’s are usually performed at the very beginning of the worship service. Person of any age can be baptized, from new borns to adult.
Holy Communion
Holy Communion is offered every service except when the Pastor is absent.
It is the belief of our Church body based on the Scriptures that the Body and Blood of Christ is truly present by, with, and under the bread and the wine. This means that we taste bread and wine but since Jesus said His body and blood are truly present in the elements this must be true and that is what we receive.
The presence of Christ’s body and blood is not manifested because of a mystical transformation by the power or office of the pastor but solely by the power of God’s word and promise. The bread and wine remain, even though Christ’s body and blood are present. This is also not a symbolic reception. This sacrament is one that Christ
commanded and through which we receive forgiveness of sins. Those who have been properly instructed and share this belief with us are invited to join us for this sacrament.
If you have questions or do not share our belief, we ask you to refrain from receiving until you can speak with the Pastor or one of the deacons. All attendees are invited to come to the altar, even if they are not receiving Communion, to receive a blessing. To receive a blessing please keep your hands folded as if in prayer.
At the time of Holy Communion in the service an usher will come to the end of your pew and invite you to go forward. We commune half table by half table. The individuals on each side of the church will be directed to approach the rail. The leader of the line should go to the very end of the communion rail on the window side of the rail. Unless instructed otherwise please remain standing until the Pastor welcomes you to the Lord’s table. At that time, unless directed otherwise, please kneel. The Pastor will come first with the bread wafer. Please cup your hands to receive it. The pastor will place the wafer in your hands and you are to eat it at that point. The Deacon will follow after with individual cups and then the Pastor with the common cup . The center darker liquid in the tray is grape juice the outer rows of cups are wine. Please select one from the tray and drink it at that point holding on to your cup. The pastor will then administer the wine to those who did not take an individual cup. When everyone has communed the Pastor will dismiss your table with a blessing. At that point we rise and bow to the altar and then exit toward the window side and down the side aisle back to the pew you came from. At the beginning of that side aisle you will see a small basket in which to place your used Communion cup.
Anyone unable to come too the altar but who would like to receive Holy Communion or a blessing should indicate this to the usher. The usher will make your request known to the Pastor and when everyone else has communed the Pastor and Deacon will come to you where you are seated.
Holy Communion is usually received by those who have been confirmed. However, if you belief your child is ready to receive please speak with the Pastor to work out details for early communion instruction.
Children
We love having children in our service! We understand that children may make noises throughout the service. Should a child have a sustained outburst we ask, at your discretion, to take your child into the narthex or library and listen to the service from there out of respect of the others at the service until your child feels ready to return.
Electronics
Please turn off your cell phone or put it on vibrate during the service.
Participation
We are always intetested in involving new people in the service. If you would like to read a lesson, usher, light the candles, or serve on altar guild please speak with the Pastor about having your name to the rotation.
Cancellation of Services
It is very rare that a worship service is cancelled. In the case of inclement weather or other emergency we will notify the community of our cancellation by e-mail, on our website and phone message. Please call the church before venturing out in bad whether if you have any doubts that the service will be held.
Prince of Peace is a work in progress; God is still teaching us all that we must be for him. We came together as a congregation in 1963 and set ourselves apart to be his people giving witness to his love for the world in Jesus Christ. We worshipped in the Hardyston Township School until 1970 when we were able to build the present sanctuary. Since the mid 1970's we have been privileged to minister to children through the work of our preschool, the Early Learning Center.
If you would like to become a member, Lutherans may join by letter of transfer, others are asked to speak to the pastor. Adults who have not previously been baptized will discuss the matter at that time.
