No teaching experience is required just a willingness to share the word of God with the younger members of our congregation. Just a small amount of your time can make a big difference. Please contact Caren Vogt at 973-827-7437 or seevogt46@yahoo.com.

The first of the QMs will be decided at the congregation meeting.

25 YEARS OF SERVICE AT PRINCE OF PEACE Sunday, June 27 was a special day indeed. It was a day to recognize and celebrate the 25 years that Pastor Stephen Vogt has served here in Hamburg. The day began with a worship service that included singing of some of Pastor’s favorite hymns. Pastor James Buckman, the New Jersey LCMS District Urban Mission Strategist, delivered the sermon. The gift of a hand-crafted communion set, made by Iwona Brunngraber, was presented to Pastor Vogt. Following the service was a time to view a collection of pictures of the past 25 years, thanks to Katie Vogt. All then gathered for lunch and a time of fellowship.

ODD JOBS AT POP
This summer we have a few projects going on at PoP. From several painting projects to some light repairs to the fence. We can always use
your help. If you'd like to help out in some way, please contact our Trustee, Dave Rutan at srr.guy@gmail.com. Many hands make light work.

CONGREGATIONAL LIFE
What's your talent? Congregational Life is seeking people with talents from right here in our own congregation, who would like to share their expertise with others. A short demonstration, speech or brief hands-on experience might be fun for everyone! After all, we're all "Lifelong Learners"!

LOOKING FOR A WAY TO SERVE? We are seeking individuals to serve as Vice President and Treasurer. For more information, talk to Pastor, Sue Epper, President, or any council member. Please remember to keep the work of everyone on the church council in prayer

September 25th - Saturday-Ecclesiastical Embroidery program from 10 AM- 2 PM at Prince of Peace. Carol Homer, who has been embroidering since her youth, will share her expertise with us. She will also be exhibiting authentic examples of work from the 18th century. After her presentation, a light luncheon will be served. Fee- $20 per person, limited seating.

Opinions/Suggestions needed.
It has been suggested that we have a Wii Fun night. This would be an opportunity for ALL ages to demonstrate/learn/play and interact.

If you sponsor the bulletin for a month we will also include your card in the Beacon newsletter for that time period. So become a sponsor and promote your business at the same time.

CURRENT GROCERY NEEDS Gifts for the Food Pantry have already been received; thank you. However, we are in need of several housekeeping items for use here at POP. They include toilet tissue, paper towels, disinfectant cleaners, black trash bags, and copier paper.

THE GREEN FUNDRAISER We got our first check from your old cell phones, ink cartridges, and other old and broken digital stuff. The box is still out, so when you clean out your desk drawers bring us your stuff and we’ll put it to good use.

THRIVENT IS CHANGING Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is now making a change to the way they distribute funds for charitable purposes. If you are a Thrivent member, having an annuity or insurance product, you will now have the opportunity to vote your portion of these funds to the charity or church of your choice. Prince of Peace will not receive funds unless we receive your vote. More information is yet to come. Want to become a Thrivent member? Please contact our Thrivent representative, Mark Kleindienst at 973-697-3802 or 877-657-9363. More information is available on the Narthex table.

The Tuesday morning (9:30 AM) group will continue EZEKIEL Chapter 21 on Sept. 1st. The Thursday afternoon study (1:00 PM) will recommence on Sept. 10th. Their new topic will be the story of David.

NEW PRINCE OF PEACE DIRECTORY Can't remember a name to go with a face? Happens to us all the time. We'd like to end that problem here at Prince of Peace with a pictorial directory. We can do it in house all we need is a volunteer with a digital camera to take photos. Volunteers? Speak to Pastor or Sue Epper.

ADDRESS UPDATES Please make sure that the church office has your most current address. The post office has changed their regulations and will no longer forward the newsletter or other items without an additional fee.

The Mission Circle raises funds through the sale of shopping cards to Weis, A&P or ShopRite here at Prince of Peace. Simply by purchasing the cards from Ethel Hemlock or Althea Lethbridge on Sunday mornings before/after service or from the church office during the week you can help your church. The amount you purchase is the amount you spend however, for every $100 you spend on groceries; the church receives $5 without costing you a cent. $5 may not sound like much but it adds up quickly. You can purchase them with either cash or check. And after all, we all grocery shop why not turn it into something more.

HANDY WITH TOOLS? Like to do small fix-up projects? We're trying to lure out any little mice who can or like to volunteer to do small projects, like hanging shades, touching up paint, helping paint, maybe repairing a fence. A plumber and a real electrician would also be nice. There's usually a small job that needs doing around Prince of Peace. If you know how to open a can of paint or which end of a hammer to hold, contact the Trustee, Dave Rutan at 973-209-4059 or rutan3@embarqmail.com

BIBLE STUDIES Have questions? Need Answers. Join a bible study here at Prince of Peace. They meet Tuesday mornings at 9:30 AM, Thursday afternoons at 1:00 PM and Sunday mornings at 10:30 AM.

CHILDREN'S FELLOWSHIP Afraid to join us because your children get fidgety. We understand, ours do too. But set your mind at ease. To make service more comfortable for your child they will now be able to join children's fellowship. They will walk to the room directly outside the sanctuary (closer is better) right after their children's sermon to enjoy some time with each other. They will be returned right after prayers so that they can join their family for the Lord's Supper.

PRAYER CIRCLE Join the prayer circle and add your name to the list of those who are called when a prayer request comes in. All it takes is a few moments of your time - you receive the call, add the prayer to yours and call the next name on the list to pass it on. To join, simply give your name to Pastor or Althea Lethbridge.

ALL CHURCH GROUPS Please send in a short report to be included in the newsletter to let us know what you have been doing and what may be coming up. They may be left in the office mailbox. Thank You! ASAP!!!

REMINDER Grocery store cards are available through the church for Shop-Rite, Weis, and A&P. Purchasing these cards helps support the work of our church and pay down the church mortgage.

ALTAR FLOWERS If you would like to place flowers on the altar in memory of a loved one, in celebration of a birthday or anniversary etc… the new flower chart is now up in the main hall. Each arrangement costs $20. Please write all dedications carefully. Eternal Candles may be dedicated for the entire month at a cost of $15.

LUTHERAN HOUR Sundays on WOR 710 at 6 AM . The Lutheran Hour" can also be heard on the Web http://www.lutheranhour.org.

NEW GRAPEVINE - ON LINE Well, the world is getting more global so we don't know if it's bigger or smaller and the Grapevine needed to become smaller so for those of you comfortable with the internet check it out on www.njdistrict.org. The preview issue is on the Narthex table.

YOUR PRAYERS Probably the most important thing we can do for one another is to pray for each other, and you are encouraged to do so. Your private prayers count just as much as those that are offered on Sunday mornings. Prayer requests are received by Pr. Vogt after the sermon. Too embarrassed to ask? Simply write out your requests and give them to Pastor or the Deacon before service.

BULLETINS We are looking for sponsors for our Sunday bulletins. They are a wonderful addition to our Sunday worship and although they are not expensive on a weekly basis the cost adds up quarterly. You can help - bulletins can be sponsored with a dedication each Sunday at a cost of only $7.50. If you can sponsor a Sunday please contact the church office.

WANT TO HELP AT CHURCH but don't know how to start or who to talk to? We are looking for members to help with the altar? Anyone interested can contact Carlyn Hudak 973-875-1022. If you think ushering might be more your style contact Dawn Schofer at 973-875-3461 or Laura Rutan at 973-209-4059. Handy with tools talk to Dave Rutan 973-209-4059. There are many little jobs here at POP that you can use your God given gifts to help with.

For Seniors: People Help of Sussex County has Grant money available to help Seniors 62 and older with heating repairs and costs. If you are in need or know someone who may benefit from this program please call People Help 973-729-1745.

If you find yourself in the hospital please make sure that you let us know. Call the church office, have the hospital clergy call us. We will keep you in prayer and a visit from Pastor is free!!

Please silence your cell phone before entering the sanctuary

SHOPPING CAN HELP POP! Did you know that you can help your church just by doing your weekly grocery shopping? Well, you can just by purchasing gift cards to Weis, A&P and Shoprite. For every $100 you spend on groceries, your church receives $5.00 Simply purchase the cards from Ethel Hemlock or Althea Lethbridge on Sunday mornings before or after service or from the church office during the week. You can purchase them with either cash or check. If everyone used these cards to purchase their groceries and medications at the respective stores, we'd be able to increase our contributions to mission work, maintenance, mortgage and more... So what's holding you back? We need your help!!

MEMORIAL GIFT CARDS: If you desire to make a memorial gift to Prince of Peace for a loved one or friend, Memorial Card Packets can be found on the Narthex table. It includes an envelope for your gift to POP, and a card which you can send or give to the family. Gifts are later acknowledged through the office. Memorial gifts help us keep God's house in good repair.
